A city full of museums and monuments, Rome is an unmissable religious tourism destination, as it hosts the Vatican City, where the Pope main activities of the Catholic Church take place. But Lazio is not just about Rome, as every year tourists also choose this region in the centre of Italy for the beauty of its Tyrrhenian coast, its hinterland dotted with old towns, its food and wine traditions and enchanting landscapes.

Rome in a bungalow

Visiting Rome while staying in a bungalow is much easier than one may think, thanks to the numerous camping sites and bungalow villages located in the outskirts of the city, surrounded by nature but not far from the historic centre of the Italian capital, which can easily be reached thanks to shuttle buses and public transport. Once in the centre of Rome, tourists find themselves in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, in front of its unmistakable symbol: the Colosseum. Among Rome's monuments, we wish to highlight the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Circo Massimo, the Vittoriano, Saint Peter's Basilica and famous squares, such as Piazza di Spagna, and Villa Borghese. The list of the city's monuments is endless, and so are those of its museums and the works of art that they host: from the Vatican Museums and its world-renowned Sistine Chapel, to the Galleria Borghese and the Capitoline Museums, the vastness of Rome's artistic heritage is staggering.

Discovering Lazio

Those who decide to stay in camping sites and bungalow villages in Lazio, a region washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea that boasts extraordinary landscapes and an ideal scenery for beach holidays, will find lots to see: the Maremma Laziale area, at the border with Tuscany; Monte del Circeo, or Promontorio del Circeo, and its National Park further south; the Gulf of Gaeta and Ponza's archipelago with the islands of Ponza, Palmarola, Zannone, Gavi, Ventotene and Santo Stefano. On the other hand, Lazio's hinterland includes the Apennine mountains, where travellers will discover amazing old towns, such as the beautiful Civita di Bagnoregio and fascinating lakes, Lago di Bolsena and Lago di Bracciano.
